For most (all?) Daikin, auto fan just means the controller logic will decide which speed fan is most suitable for the air handler to run at. Usually as opposed to 2-5 manual settings (depending on model). Generally it will use higher fan speeds when delta-T is greater, then ramp down as it reaches or approaches setpoint.
